The pellet game has changed. For years, match anglers have craved a high-quality, Skretting-style fishmeal pellet that offers a faster breakdown without the frustrating inconsistencies of dust and irregular sizes found in bulk bags. Mainline Match has answered that call with the SK4 Pellets.
At Gerrys Fishing, weve seen these pellets become an instant favorite among our F1 and skimmer specialists. The SK4 is specifically engineered to be clean-cut, meaning you get uniform pellets that soak evenly and perform predictably every single time you ship out. Whether you are looking for a soft feed for the pole or a fast-reacting carpet of bait for the feeder, these pellets provide the high-protein, fishy attraction that coarse fish find irresistible.

The biggest hurdle with traditional fast-breakdown pellets has always been batch variation. You might get one bag that soaks perfectly and another that turns to mush. Mainline Match has eliminated this with the SK4 range. By selecting only the cleanest cuts, they ensure that the skin of the pellet remains intact even after soaking, giving you a swollen, soft pellet that holds its shape but melts the moment a fish disturbs it.
F1 and Skimmer Venues: Because these pellets break down faster than standard pellets, they release food signals quickly, which is essential for keeping competitive fish like F1s and skimmers rooting around your swim without overfeeding them.
The Pole Line: Use them on their own as a loose feed. Their uniform weight allows for accurate potting, and once they hit the bottom, they create a soft, attractive pile that fish can easily vacuum up.
Feeder Fishing (The Mix): The SK4 is a secret weapon for hybrid or method feeder work. By mixing them with slower-breaking pellets like Mainline Activated or Cell Pellets, you create a multi-stage breakdown. The SK4s pop off the feeder almost instantly to attract fish, while the harder pellets remain to keep them there.
Cold Water Success: Their fast-breakdown nature makes them excellent in winter and early spring when you want maximum attraction with minimum actual feed content.
Achieving the perfect consistency with SK4 pellets is remarkably simple:
Place your pellets in a tub or strainer.
Cover them with water until the water level is just flush with the top of the pellets.
Leave for 1 hour.
After 60 minutes, the pellets will have fully absorbed the water, becoming swollen and soft throughout while remaining as individual pellets. No draining required!
The Hybrid Breakdown: If youre fishing a commercial water with a mix of carp and skimmers, try a 70/30 mix of SK4s and Mainline Cell Pellets. The SK4s will create an immediate fizz of attraction and a soft bed of micro-particles that skimmers love, while the Cell pellets provide the heavier, slower-releasing protein chunks that the bigger carp will eventually move in on. For an extra edge, add a splash of Mainline Sticky Syrup to the soaking water to dye and flavour the pellets right to the core.
Are these pellets suitable for use as hookbaits?
While SK4s are primarily designed as feed pellets, once soaked for an hour, they become soft enough to be carefully side-hooked or pushed into a hair-rigged pellet band. However, for a more durable hookbait, we recommend using a dedicated expander or hard pellet.
Can I use these in a Spod mix?
Absolutely. They are a fantastic addition to a spod mix when you want a cloud of fishmeal attraction to hang in the water column as the pellets begin their fast breakdown process on the way down.
Do they contain artificial dyes?
The SK4 pellets rely on their natural fishmeal content for their colour and aroma, providing a tan/brown natural look that doesnt spook wary fish in clear water.
How do I store them once the bag is open?
Keep them in a cool, dry place. If you have already soaked them, they will keep in a sealed bait tub in the fridge for 23 days, or you can freeze them for use in your next session.
