Savage Gear Salmonoid SG2 Inline Trolling Rod

The Savage Gear Salmonoid SG2 Inline Trolling rod is a specialized, shorter-length tool engineered for high-performance trolling. It excels when using downriggers, Dipsy Divers, and paravanes in both freshwater and saltwater, where a more compact rod offers superior handling. It features a parabolic action for optimal shock absorption and cushion against the powerful runs of salmon.

Key Specifications:

Features for Dedicated Trolling:

• Compact Length: The 2.21m length is ideal for smaller boats or when using multiple rod setups close to the boat, providing excellent control and making netting easier.
• Inline Design: The absence of traditional guides reduces line friction and eliminates guide failure, making the rod extremely durable and reliable for heavy-duty trolling applications.
• Parabolic Action: This deep, full-curve action is crucial for trolling rods, providing superb cushioning against sudden strikes. It effectively prevents shock breaks and significantly reduces the risk of hook pulls from hard-fighting salmon.
• Durability and Balance: Built with an ultralightweight, durable 24+30T Carbon Blank, the rod is designed to last even under the toughest fishing in rough conditions, while remaining perfectly balanced for the optimal feel.
• Trolling-Specific Components:
  • Tip Guide: Features a robust 2-piece SeaGuide ITHT tip guide (Inline Heavy Trolling), which serves as the final, durable exit point for the line.
  • Reel Seat: Equipped with a Strong DPS reel seat to securely lock down large conventional or spinning trolling reels.
  • Butt Section: Includes an X Gimbal for secure, non-slip seating in a rod holder or fighting belt.

Ideal Applications:

• Trolling for Salmon, Trout, or Lake Trout using downriggers, Dipsy Divers, or planer boards, especially in situations where a shorter rod is advantageous.
• Any heavy-duty boat fishing where durability and a powerful parabolic action are essential.
