Daiwa 24 TDR 3012QD

Daiwa 24 TDR 3012QD: The Versatile Legend Reimagined

The Blue Reel is back and better than ever. At Gerrys Fishing, we know the 3012 is the most popular size in the TDR range for a reasonit is the ultimate all-rounder. The 2024 TDR 3012QD takes that legendary durability and injects it with AIRDRIVE technology, making it lighter, faster, and more balanced than any previous generation.

By shifting the weight balance toward the rear of the reel using a Zaion V AIRDRIVE Rotor, Daiwa has created a 3012 that makes your rod feel lighter in the hand. Whether youre casting a waggler every minute or cranking in a feeder from mid-lake, the reduced inertia means you start and stop the retrieve with effortless precision.

Pro-Level Performance Features

• AIRDRIVE DESIGN: The combination of the Hollow AIRDRIVE Bail and the lightweight rotor reduces the front-end weight. This results in less swing and vibration, giving you a smoother, more tactile connection to your rig.

• Aluminium HardBodyZ: The foundation of the TDRs reputation. The rigid metal body prevents any internal movement, ensuring the Digigear II system stays perfectly meshed even when playing hard-fighting commercial carp.

• QD (Quick Drag): Essential for modern match tactics. Go from a loose setting to full fighting tension in a fraction of a turnperfect for when a big fish bolts right at the net.

• LC-ABS Spool & HIP Clip: Hit the same spot every time. The Long Cast spool lip adds yards to your cast, while the spring-loaded High Impact Protection line clip ensures your line is never damaged when hitting the distance.

Where to Use the TDR 3012QD

The 3012 is the Goldilocks of the TDR rangenot too big, not too small. The Gerrys team recommends this model for:

• Standard Method Feeder: The perfect match for 10ft and 11ft rods. It has the winding power to deal with 8lb+ carp but is light enough to keep the setup balanced for frequent casting.

• Large Lake Waggler Fishing: Ideal for launching big wagglers and sliders. The Twistbuster 3 and Cross Wrap technologies work together to prevent line twist, even when youre repeatedly reeling in from distance.

• Pellet Waggler Tactics: The 3012 size offers the perfect retrieve speed for the cast-and-crank nature of pellet waggler fishing, while the Zaion V Rotor allows for the instant start-up needed to stay in touch with your float.

• Braid or Mono Versatility: With the included spare spool, you can have one loaded with high-tech braid for skimmers and bream, and the other with a robust mono for commercial carp.

Gerrys Verdict:

If you could only own one match reel, the 24 TDR 3012QD would be it. Its powerful enough for the feeder, light enough for the float, and built to last another twenty years. Its the professionals choice for a reason
