Gerrys Heavy Duty 12mm Dongle Rings are robust, stainless steel rings specifically designed to integrate with the popular Dongle Rig (also known as the Dingle Dangle rig) used extensively in UK sea fishing, particularly when targeting specimen species like smooth-hounds, large rays, and cod.
| Feature | Specification & Benefit |
| Heavy-Duty Construction | Crafted from Stainless Steel for maximum durability and corrosion resistance against the harsh saltwater environment. The heavy-duty nature ensures they wont straighten or fail under the pressure of a powerful cast or a big fish fight. |
| Specific Diameter | 12mm size is considered the heavy-duty option, perfect for use with thick monofilament or braid (Dongle Braid) when constructing the rigs bait-holding loop. |
| Dongle Rig Necessity | These rings form the core mechanism of the Dongle Rig. A length of line (the dongle) is tied to the ring and the ring then slides freely up and down the main hooks shank. |
| Bait Presentation | Crucial for the rigs function. The ring allows the angler to securely attach and hair-rig a large bait (like a whole squid, crab, or fish section) to the shank of a single hook (usually a large Circle Hook). |
| Casting Efficiency | By containing the bait neatly, the ring helps create a more aerodynamic, streamlined bait package that can be clipped down behind the lead weight, allowing for maximum casting distance without the bait flying off. |
| Improved Hooking | Essential for the rigs effectiveness, especially with Circle Hooks. The presentation ensures the hook point is fully exposed, promoting clean lip-hooking and significantly reducing deep or gut-hooking. |
| Quantity | Typically supplied in a convenient pack of 20 rings, providing enough components for numerous rig builds. |
