Anyfish Anywhere 6 and Bait MK2 13ft

Anyfish Anywhere 6 & Bait MK2 13ft: The Quintessential UK All-Rounder

If there is one rod that has earned its place as a legend on British shores, it is the Anyfish Anywhere 6 & Bait MK2. At Gerrys Fishing, we often recommend this rod as the go-to choice for the angler who wants one tool to do it all. Despite the name implying a heavy-duty specialized tool, the MK2 is surprisingly refined, offering a blend of power, user-friendliness, and versatility that is rare in the sea fishing world.

The 6 & Bait moniker refers to its sweet spotlaunching a 6oz lead and a substantial bait with easebut its capabilities stretch far beyond that. Built on a slim, powerful carbon blank with a progressive parabolic action, it is designed to be forgiving. You dont need to be a tournament-casting champion to get the best out of this rod; a simple overhead thump is enough to send a rig a staggering distance. It is the workhorse of the UK coastline, as comfortable on a clean sandy beach as it is on a rugged, kelp-strewn headland.

Detailed Specifications

Where to Use the Anyfish Anywhere 6 & Bait MK2

• Mixed and Rough Ground: The rod features a powerful butt and mid-section, providing the necessary leverage to winch fish and gear through kelp beds and over rocky ledges.

• Clean Beach Match Fishing: Dont let the power fool you; the tip is remarkably responsive. It provides excellent bite detection for smaller species like dabs, whiting, and pouting when using multi-hook clipped rigs.

• Targeting Winter Cod: When the seas are high and the tide is pulling, this rod has the backbone to hold a large grip lead and a big cocktail bait in place, waiting for that classic cod slack-liner.

• Summer Smoothhound Sprints: The parabolic action is perfect for absorbing the lunging runs of a hard-fighting Smoothhound or Ray, acting as a massive shock absorber that prevents hook pulls.

Pro Tip from the Gerrys Team

The Sliding Advantage: The adjustable sliding reel seat is one of the best features of the MK2. If you are fishing reel down with a multiplier in the traditional style, you can slide it to the bottom. However, if you prefer reel up with a large fixed spool, you can position it higher to find the perfect balance point for your arm length. Take the time to experiment with the position on the beachit can significantly increase your casting comfort and distance!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this rod suitable for a beginner?

Absolutely. Many high-end beach casters are too stiff for beginners to load correctly. The 6 & Bait MK2 is designed with a progressive curve, meaning the rod does the work for you. Its the perfect rod to grow with as your casting technique improves.

Can I use this with a Fixed Spool reel?

Yes, the rod is available in both Multiplier and Fixed Spool versions. The Fixed Spool model features appropriately spaced guides to handle the larger coils of line coming off a big pit reel.

Why are Fuji BNOG rings important?

Fuji is the industry leader in guide technology. The BNOG rings are incredibly durable and designed to handle the friction of both heavy monofilament and braided lines. They are built to withstand the corrosive saltwater environment, ensuring your rod lasts for years.

What does Parabolic Action actually mean for my fishing?

In simple terms, it means the rod bends in a smooth arc throughout the blank. This makes it easier to load the rod during a cast, but more importantly, it provides a more enjoyable and safer experience when fighting large fish, as the rod absorbs the pressure rather than putting all the strain on your knots and hooks.
