Daiwa 24 TDR 2508QD

Daiwa 24 TDR 2508QD: The Compact Powerhouse

The unmistakable blue livery of the TDR is more than just a color; its a symbol of total reliability on the match circuit. At Gerrys Fishing, weve watched the TDR evolve since its debut in 2005. The 2024 TDR 2508QD represents the newest chapter, integrating cutting-edge AIRDRIVE Design into the classic, rugged frame that anglers have trusted for two decades.

The 2508 is the precision tool of the range. While it retains the legendary Hard Aluminium Body for winching power, the new AIRDRIVE Rotor (made from Zaion V) and Hollow AIRDRIVE Bail significantly reduce the front-end weight. This creates a reel that is incredibly responsive, stopping and starting with zero lagperfect for high-workrate fishing.

Precision Engineering for Match Success

• AIRDRIVE DESIGN: By re-balancing the reel and reducing the weight of the rotating assembly, Daiwa has made the 2508 feel even more agile on shorter rods, improving your feel when playing fish under the tip.

• Tough Digigear & Aluminium Body: Dont let the compact size fool you. The rigid body ensures the gearing stays in perfect alignment, providing the endurance needed for seasons of heavy use.

• QD (Quick Drag): The gold standard for modern match fishing. A simple tweak of the cap takes you from free to fight, giving you total control over every lunge of a hooked fish.

• HIP Line Clip: The High Impact Protection clip is spring-loaded to absorb the energy of the cast, ensuring you can clip up with confidence without worrying about line damage or crack-offs.

Where to Use the TDR 2508QD

The 2508 is the go-to choice for finesse and speed. The Gerrys team recommends this model for:

• Short Range Interrogations: The perfect partner for 8ft, 9ft, and 10ft Bomb or F1 rods. Its compact size maintains the balance of shorter blanks beautifully.

• Silverfish Waggler Fishing: If you are targeting roach, rudd, or skimmers on the float, the lightweight Zaion V Rotor allows for instant line pickup, helping you hit those lightning-fast bites.

• Light Method Feeder: Ideal for winter league tactics or small micro feeders where accuracy and finesse are more important than outright distance.

• Canal & Small River Work: Its light weight makes it a dream for roaming or for use on delicate setups where you need a high-quality drag to protect light hooklengths.

Gerrys Verdict:

The 2508QD is the finest TDR yet for the finesse angler. It offers the same bulletproof construction as the larger 4012 but in a package that is much lighter and more sensitive. Whether youre speed-fishing for silvers or targeting F1s on a tight commercial, the 2508 is the ultimate precision instrument
