The extra long point of theDrennan Super Specialist Barbel hook is immensely sharp, giving instantpenetration on the take. This makes it virtually impossible for the fish toeject the hook once in its mouth. There are two noticeable features that makethis hook stand out from the crowd. Firstly you have a Teflon coating with anon-reflective, dull charcoal-grey colouration that blends in to itssurroundings far better than a standard hook. By using Teflon coated hooks youwill dramatically reducing sun glare when fishing in shallow or exceptionallyclear water. This is especially useful in bright conditions. The second andmost beneficial feature of the hook is the slightly in-turned eye. This hasbeen very neatly finished off to eliminate any chance of your hooklengthbreaking from eye abrasion when the fish is in full charge. The in-turned anglealso makes the hook ideal for use with a Knotless Knot. This makes the hookideal for both hair-rigged baits as well as conventionally hooked baits. Thisexcellent hook also has a short to medium length shank with a circular curve, whisker barb and elongated point. Although it was initially designed forbarbel, the Super Specialist Barbel has now found favour with anglers targetingother hard-fighting species such as tench, carp and chub.
