Let it sink to the depth you want, then work it with fast winds, sweeps, pauses, or lift-and-fall movements.

A fast retrieve can trigger fish chasing bait, while a slower count-down approach lets you work below surface activity when predators are holding deeper than they look.

This is strongest when wind, current, or distance makes lighter plugs difficult to fish.

It is not the best choice for shallow snaggy ground unless you can keep it moving, because the sinking body will drop if you pause too long.
