The HTO Slow Jig has completely transformed vertical fishing in UK waters. This 80g model is the most agile in the family, designed for anglers who want maximum flutter and a more delicate presentation. Its flat, bullet-shaped profile is engineered for a fast, vertical descent, ensuring you reach the kill zone at the bottom with precisionvital when you are drifting over a specific patch of rough ground or a small inshore wreck.
Unlike high-speed speed jigs that require aggressive cranking, this jig is designed to be worked with rhythmic, measured lifts. The slightly contoured body and high-grade holographic patterns create intense flashes and vibrations as the lure tumbles on the fall. This fluttering action mimics a dying baitfish perfectly, a signal that predatory fish find impossible to ignore. It is a incredibly productive method that has been responsible for catching over 40 species in the UK alone, from specimen Bass and Pollack to colourful Gurnards.
Finesse Profile: At 90mm, this jig offers a smaller, natural silhouetteideal when fish are feeding on small sandeels or pin-head baitfish.
Maximum Hang-Time: The lighter 80g weight allows the jig to stay in the strike zone longer, offering a more enticing, slow-drifting fall than heavier models.
High-Octane Visuals: Deep-etched holographic patterns reflect every available bit of light, providing a high-visibility target even in deeper or slightly murky water.
Contoured Flutter: The asymmetrical design ensures the jig vibrates and kicks side-on during the drop, which is when the majority of strikes occur.
Multi-Species Magnet: A proven winner for everything from apex predators like Bass to hard-fighting bottom dwellers like Wrasse and Ling.
Inshore Reefs & Rock Hopping: Perfect for depths between 20ft and 60ft where you want to maintain total control and feel through the rod.
Neap Tides & Slack Water: When the tidal flow is light, the 80g model offers a much more enticing, weightless flutter than heavier 150g+ alternatives.
Kayak & LRF Boat Fishing: A favorite for kayak anglers who need a lure that is heavy enough to reach the bottom but light enough to work with shorter, lighter rods.
Because the 80g version is the lightest in the range, it is incredibly sensitive to line bow. To get the best action, use the thinnest braid possible (PE 0.8 to 1.2 is ideal). When you lift the rod and drop the tip, do it quickly so the line goes momentarily slackthis releases the jig to kick sideways and flutter. Please Note: These jigs are supplied without hooks. We highly recommend rigging them with a single HTO Assist Hook at the top eye only to maximize hook-ups and minimize snags!
What size Assist Hook is best for the 80g model? For this 90mm body, a size 1/0 or even a size 1 HTO Assist Hook is usually the perfect match. You want the hook to sit roughly 1/3rd of the way down the jig body.
Can I use this on a standard lure rod? Yes! While a dedicated Slow Jigging rod is best, an 80g jig is light enough to be worked effectively on a heavy spinning rod or a light 612lb boat rod.
Is this weight suitable for deep-water wrecks? In very deep water (100ft+) or during strong spring tides, an 80g jig will struggle to stay vertical. In those conditions, we recommend stepping up to the 120g or 150g versions.
Are these jigs saltwater resistant? Absolutely. They feature a durable finish designed for the marine environment. We always recommend a quick rinse in fresh water after use to keep the holographic finish sparkling
