Okuma Azores XP ZXP-4000H HS

Okuma Azores XP ZXP-4000H HS: The Bulletproof Saltwater Specialist

At Gerrys Fishing, we know that saltwater is the ultimate gear killer. Thats why the Okuma Azores XP has become one of our top recommendations for anglers who demand a reel that wont back down. The XP stands for extra performance, and this 4000H High-Speed model is a powerhouse built into a compact, manageable frame.

Constructed with a full diecast aluminium body, side plate, and rotor, the Azores XP is incredibly rigid, ensuring that internal gears stay in perfect alignment even under the massive pressure of a hard-fighting fish. The heart of this reel is the Dual Force Drag (DFD) system, which applies pressure to both the top and bottom of the spool to maximize drag force and smoothness. Combined with Okumas Corrosion-Resistant Coating (CRC), this reel is designed to be dunked, sprayed, and pushed to the limit in the surf.

Technical Specifications

The ZXP-4000H HS is the perfect blend of high-speed retrieval and raw stopping power:

Key Features for the Serious Angler

• Mechanical Stabilizing System (MSS): A unique carbon plate that strengthens the spool shaft and eliminates vibration.

• Hydro Block Seal: A watertight gasket that protects the drag washers from salt and sand infiltration.

• Solid Bail Wire: An oversized, heavy-duty aluminium wire built to withstand the rigors of boat and shore fishing.

• Dual Anti-Reverse: For total security, Okuma utilizes both a quick-set roller bearing and a back-up pawl systemessential when targeting powerful species.

Where to Use the Azores XP 4000H

This high-speed 4000 size is the Swiss Army Knife of saltwater spinning reels:

• Shore Power-Lure Fishing: The 5.8:1 retrieve ratio is ideal for burning metal jigs and topwater poppers for Bass, Pollack, and Mackerel. You can cover more water and give your lures the action they need.

• Inshore Boat Fishing: Perfect for light reef work or drifting for Ray and Turbot. The 13kg max drag is staggering for a reel of this size, giving you the upper hand against bonus bigger fish.

• Kayak Fishing: Its compact size makes it easy to handle on a kayak, while the aluminium construction and CRC coating handle the constant salt spray better than most reels in its class.

• Light Rock Fishing (LRF) for Hard-Fighters: If you are targeting Wrasse in heavy kelp, you need a reel that can lock down and win the first five seconds of the fight. The Azores XP is built for exactly that.

Gerrys Pro Tip: The Azores XP features a dual anti-reverse system. This means there is zero play in the handle, giving you an immediate connection to the fish the second you turn the handle. Its a feature usually reserved for much more expensive Super-Spinning reels.
