Shimano Miravel 4000 XG

Shimano Miravel 4000 XG | High-Speed Lightweight Performance

At Gerrys Fishing, we highlight the Shimano Miravel 4000 XG as the perfect solution for anglers who need a larger spool capacity and faster retrieve without the bulk of a traditional 4000-size reel. As the most affordable entry in the Magnumlite (MGL) Series, the Miravel 4000 XG delivers the sophisticated, weightless rotational feel that technical lure anglers crave.

The 4000 XG model is built for speed, featuring an Extra High Gear (6.2:1) ratio that picks up nearly a meter of line with every turn. This makes it a formidable tool for both freshwater predators like Pike and saltwater species like Bass, where lure control and rapid recovery are vital.

Key Magnumlite Technologies

• CI4+ G-Free Body: The frame and sideplate are constructed from Shimanos exclusive CI4+ carbon-infused composite. This material is 2.5 times stiffer than standard resin, providing a rock-solid foundation for the gears while keeping the total weight to a remarkably light 245g.

• Magnumlite (MGL) Rotor: The ultra-lightweight MGL rotor has exceptionally low startup inertia. This means the reel responds instantly to your touch, giving you unparalleled sensitivity and a connected feeling to your lure.

• HAGANE Gear & X-SHIP: The heart of the reel features a cold-forged HAGANE Gear for long-lasting smoothness. Supported by X-SHIP technology, the internal gears remain in perfect alignment even when under the heavy load of a surging fish.

• SilentDrive: Shimano has redesigned internal components to eliminate minute rattles and play, resulting in a quiet, fluid winding experience that feels significantly more premium than its price tag suggests.

• CoreProtect: This water-repellent treatment protects the roller clutch, body, and line roller from water intrusion without increasing rotational resistance, making it suitable for inshore saltwater environments.

Use Example: Power Luring and Saltwater Bass

Imagine you are lure fishing from a rocky shoreline for Bass or working a large reservoir for aggressive Pike. You are using surface poppers or heavy metal jigs that require a fast retrieve to stay in the strike zone or to keep the lure moving over shallow snags.

The Miravel 4000 XG is the ideal partner for this. Its 99cm per turn retrieve rate allows you to burn lures across the surface or quickly recover line after a long cast. Because the reel is so light, it balances perfectly on longer 9ft or 10ft lure rods, allowing you to cast all day without fatigue. When a fish hits, the 11kg Cross Carbon Drag provides the stopping power needed to prevent it from reaching cover.
